What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese energy technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It is a safe non-invasive practice that strengthens our own natural healing abilities by channeling energy through the body with intention and care. Reiki can help relieve pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, headache, insomnia, nausea, and tension. Clients often experience improved mood, mental clarity, and emotional release during or after a session. It is a practice that supports peace in body, mind, and spirit.

Reiki can be especially helpful when you are:

  • Feeling mentally, emotionally, or physically blocked and are not sure what to do

  • Feeling exhausted/overwhelmed and in need of deep rest

  • Looking for a healing modality that’s gentler and subtler than massage/bodywork

  • Wanting to simply RECEIVE support and nourishment

I am trained in the Usui / Holy Fire Reiki tradition and adhere to the following reiki ideals:

What does a reiki session look like?

During the session, you will lie on a massage table in a private room with dim lighting and soft music. Reiki is given by either placing my hands directly on your body or a few inches above you. The process is slow and gentle, moving through the whole body or focusing on specific areas of interest. It is NOT a massage — there’s no manual manipulation or need to remove clothing.

Before the session begins, we will talk briefly about anything you’d like to focus on during the treatment. I will also ask for your consent and preferences on touch.

After the session, we will chat briefly to help integrate your experience. I may share insights I received during our time together or offer suggestions for practices / contemplations to take home with you.
