FAQs

  • If we’ve never met before, feel free to send a message through the Contact page to introduce yourself or attend an in-person or virtual classes to get a sense of my teaching style. You can also schedule a free 20-minute consult to learn more about yoga therapy and see if we’re a good fit to work together.

  • All Yoga Therapy sessions are 60 minutes. It is recommended that new clients commit to at least three initial sessions to start, to allow enough time to build a relationship and feel the effects of the practices.

The frequency of sessions is completely up to you. Most people find it beneficial to meet either weekly or bi-weekly. We may continue working together until you feel complete with the process. You may also find times when you want to pause and restart again when you’re ready. There’s no rush; we go at the pace that works best for you.

  • The difference between the two is similar to the difference between a PE class versus physical therapy. While regular yoga classes can provide many benefits, Yoga Therapy offers one-on-one attention and applies yoga techniques in a therapeutic setting to address your specific concerns and goals. Yoga Therapists generally receive hundreds more training hours than yoga teachers, and often have more knowledge working with trauma, mental health, and deeper yoga practices beyond just the physical. The goal of Yoga Therapy is not just to guide you through yoga postures, it’s to build a therapeutic relationship that supports and empowers your inner growth.

  • Anything that you feel comfortable and confident sitting, moving, and lying down in. It may feel nice to wear clothes made of natural fabrics that are soft and breathable. Workout or lounge clothes often work well.

  • For in-person classes/sessions, you may want to bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Additional props are usually provided in the yoga studio, though you may also bring your own if you prefer.

For virtual classes/sessions, make sure you have a private space where you feel calm and comfortable. Have as many yoga materials ready as possible, such as a yoga mat, blankets, blocks, bolsters, straps, and eye pillows. Feel free to improvise using whatever you have available, such as couch cushions, sturdy books, or scarves. You may also like to add extra touches to beautify the space, such as lighting a candle, having photos/tokens/crystals that you like, or making a cup of tea.

  • We honor the fact that every individual carries a unique blend of personal, ancestral, and collective history and experiences. As we move through yoga practices, these histories may show up physically, energetically, or mental-emotionally. Though no space may feel completely safe for everybody, we do our best to hold space with as much awareness, integrity, and care as possible. This includes maintaining a practice environment that feels calm and accessible, honoring preferred pronouns, asking for consent, using inclusive and invitational language, empowering choice in your practice, practicing active and compassionate listening, allowing all feelings without judgment, decentering whiteness, giving credit to lineages, and sharing only what has integrity and permission to be shared. We are continually learning how to provide offerings that feel supportive, accessible, and equitable; we welcome your honest feedback in this process.

  • Yoga Therapy sessions range from $108 for individuals to $150 for couples. Pricing for private group bookings and professional services are determined on a case-by-case basis. We do our best to balance accessible service with financial sustainability. See below for information about insurance and sliding scale. Contact us through our Connect page if you’d like to discuss more pricing options.

  • Yoga Therapy is unfortunately not covered by insurance at this time.

  • Sliding scale options are available for those with limited financial means. Preference is given to BIPOC, queer, trans, immigrant/refugee, and people with disabilities. We do not assume that all folx with these identities want or need financial support. However, we are committed to reducing and repairing the harm of systems of oppression by making rest and therapeutic support as accessible as possible for those most marginalized in society. Please contact us to inquire about sliding scale options.
